Learning to relax into a plié and allowing ourselves to slide along the floor with bent knees. Always pull up and try not to lean forward. A Retiré (translation – to draw up) is a balance on one leg. The supporting leg must be straight and the leg in the ‘flag shape’ should be facing outwards to the side. If the stomach muscles are held, balancing becomes easier.
